What are the Dallas Fire Explorers?

The Dallas Fire Explorer Program is designed for teens who are interested in firefighting and paramedicine. The group is composed of kids from the ages of 14 to 21 from all over the metroplex. The program offers training in firefighting and emergency medical services that Dallas Fire Rescue provides for the City of Dallas. MEETINGS

Meetings are held every first and third Saturday of each month from 9am to 12pm. They are located at 5000 Dolphin Road in Dallas, Texas at the Dodd Miller Training Academy in classroom 2. Each meeting we focus on three different areas of the fire service. First we all participate in physical training (PT), and after that, we begin training on fire and emergency medical service (EMS) related topics.

There are some times when we will meet on days other than our normal meeting schedule for CPR/AED training, community service events, and group get togethers. Another event we meet for twice a year is the 24 hour rideout, during which we stay at the training academy for 24 hours. During this event, we will participate in scenarios and visit some places of interest such as the Dallas Fire Rescue Communications/Dispatch Center, Station 21 at Love Field Airport, and the Dallas Fire Museum.

---JOINING THE PROGRAM---

If you are interested in joining the program, there is NO prior enrollment or notice of your attendance needed. All you have to do is show up at a meeting to introduce yourself and see if you want to join the program. After that, you will fill out paper work and pay dues to become a member, but first you just need to come to a meeting. Look at the map below to see where to park and what building to go to. Enter in through the door to the right of the apparatus bay. We meet in the second classroom, the third room on the right.
